‘twas a bleak Monday…

Like those old films you watched as a child, never appreciated and then returned to some time later to realize the brilliance behind them, my Monday today was of similar caliber.

I awoke (20 minutes ahead of schedule), headed to the kitchen and put the kettle on. This was followed by a shower, my usual morning ritual, but as I was ahead of myself I had time to have a shave and really wake up. I brewed a pot of earl gray, poured myself some Just Right and had a read of Gourmet Traveler. Eventually we made our way out the door and onward to Uni.

(I hope to goodness I don’t bore you with me blogging about my days, as they are in their sincerest form. As I am sure I have mentioned before, I like to keep track of what I was up to throughout the year so I can look back and see.)

Morning class was dull, and only made bearable by the series of notes being passed between me and my peers. Main subject of the notes: BOOK CLUB. It is almost sad how eager we are to get back together and drink too much wine and talk about literature.

After that class I turned my phone on to see a potential running job for a commercial being shot tomorrow. It was basically go to Hamilton to pick up 30 crates of berries for a decent sum of Money. I ran the calculations, two hours there, two hours back plus an hour in between where I would have to swap cars, as mine was going to the mechanic for a service. I figured it would all be doable and we would be back in time for our evening class at 5.30pm.

And then it was on. We (Thomas and I) find ourselves half way to the Tron.

I love a good road trip, and it was made entertaining by passing through small towns we could make fun of. Namely HUNTLY. The place with a massive DEKA sign, and no DEKA. A place called CHEEP LIQUOR, obviously it’s for the local birds).

We eventually made our pick up, and returned back to the big city of Auckland, stopping at various places along the way and delivering BERRIES.

“We are the berry men.” - Tom Neunzerling

(Wow, summarizing it really doesn’t do our massive journey justice.)

We then popped home for an estimated 15 minutes, ate some food and cleaned the flat up. We were 15 minutes away from needing to be at class, so we jumped in the car. I realized I had not done my homework, so i pulled out my laptop, used the WIFI from my phone and rushed a job in Photoshop, emailed it off and we arrived at Uni just in the nick of time.

Highlights of our EXPERIMENTAL FILM class includes the following, but is not limited to:

Busby Berekley's 1933 "By a Waterfall" from Footlight Parade

Click the picture to watch it, it is utterly amazing, just give it a chance…

After class we then dashed home via the bottle store and grabbed a bottle of red and some Lamb Shanks from Hell’s Pizza. IT WAS DEVINE. Then the greatest set of twins in the world came over and we watched a film and drank some more wine.

The night ended with a cup of tea, and this blog. I am now off to bed to read a bit of Orwell’s 1984. Goodnight dear friends.

I wish all mondays were as… swell.
